Amapiano radio, live and free
Log drums, deep keys and slow-building grooves straight from South Africa. Five stations in one player, from dedicated Amapiano stations to South African radio, with some Afrobeats in the mix.
Born in the townships of Gauteng
Amapiano took shape in the townships around Johannesburg and Pretoria in the mid 2010s. It borrows from deep house, jazz and kwaito, and its signature is the log drum: a deep, bouncing bassline that sits somewhere between a kick and a synth.
Producers and DJs such as Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa, Focalistic and Uncle Waffles carried the sound from local parties to global festivals, and it now shapes pop records far beyond South Africa.
