From The Curator at BlackFM
Five new releases worth your time this week, from Lagos street-pop and South African 3-Step to Ghanaian rap and highlife. Press play on each video, then keep the vibe going on BlackFM Afrobeats radio.
1. Seyi Vibez: SWAGUU (album)
The big one. Seyi Vibez follows up Fuji Moto, the record that shaped so much of 2025, with a full album executive-produced by Burna Boy. It was started in Cape Town and finished in Lagos, and you can hear both cities in it. Start with “Pansa” if you want his take on amapiano, then “Diamonds” for something slower.
2. Fireboy DML, JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela: “Imali”
JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela helped take the South African 3-Step sound global last year. Here they pull Fireboy DML into their world for a smooth, money-on-my-mind record that sits right between Afrobeats and the Johannesburg dance scene.
3. M.anifest feat. O’Kenneth and wavypae: “On Ten”
One of Ghana’s sharpest lyricists links with O’Kenneth, a leading voice of the country’s drill scene. It plays like a passing of notes between generations: two rappers with very different styles who both refuse to chase trends.
4. Jembaa Groove feat. Fatoumata Diawara: “Waka”
Warm, live highlife from a band that clearly grew up on it, joined by Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara. It has a strong pan-African feel and is the perfect Sunday morning record.
5. Ajebo Hustlers feat. Gyakie: “365 Days”
A breakup song with no regrets. The Port Harcourt duo trade verses about moving on, and Gyakie delivers a cool, composed hook that steals the track. File under songs for getting over someone.
